Taking a ride on the Biotrén, Concepción (EM and ST amb)
Description
this is a stereo field recording with a third channel of electromagnetic activity. It is very interesting to hear this track solo while looking at the spectrogram. Recording starts at the Concepción Biotrén station, then goes on aboard the train, passes several stations and ends with getting off at Hualqui station. Train arrives at 1:50 with an announcement. There is always a high pitched whine in the EM field. You can hear commuters getting on the train. At 4:30 a man tries to prevent me from recording but thanks to diligences by my friend Susana, he walks off without further questioning. A few people get on the train. Someone watches a video on their phone near 7mins. More people get on at 9mins and it gets crowded. Doors shut at 11min and the train starts. The EM field is very active now, not only with the whining but also lots of subtle interferences and voltajes that come and go. Antenna was mostly near the leftmost door, regarding the direction of the train. Lots of wheels against the tracks noise, in acoustic and EM field. The whine dissapears near the 13min mark. At 14:45 the train whistles, as it has done a few times before. It's a noisefest from here on; the whining resumes at 18:50 minute mark. Train arrives at a station at 20:30; doors close and train resumes at 21min. The whining comes and goes until 22mins. There is a lot more commuter conversations and PA announcements. The EM field is alive with subtle interferences. Another station stop at 22:50; resumes at 23:20. The PA announces the next stop at Manquimávida. Stops at 25:23; resumes shortly after. The EM field whining resumes near the 27min mark and ends intermittently until the end of the recording. Another stop at 27:40; train resumes at 28:21. Another train whistle at 34:45. Near the 37min mark, a final PA announcement is made regarding final destination. Final stop and I get off in the last half minute. Recorded on a MixPre6 with LOM Usi Pro microphones and a LOM Priezor passive magnetic antenna.
