Cars Passing Over Bridge
This was recorded in a canal sometime in 2020 or 2021. The canal weaves around under a highway. The canal is often low in water and so it's possible to walk there. This recording was made underneath a bridge.
I enjoy this recording because it's a great example of how stereo recordings can give you a feeling of space. The traffic makes a distinctive sound as it crosses over a join in the bridge and this sound echoes around the cement surfaces - two walls, a ceiling and a floor.
There's a lot going on in this recording. There's an instance of low hum from a very large truck. You can hear pigeons shuffling around and knocking sticks from their nests. You can hear water passing by and water dripping. A jogger passes by towards the end.
This recording was made with the inbuilt XY microphones of a Zoom H5. I added a 25 Hz HPF in the editing process.
