Logging in Distance
Portugal - Serra de Santa Luzia
This is the sound of the sacred mountains of Santa Luzia on the north coast of Portugal. Sadly, the original forest has been destroyed and replaced by a Eucalyptus plantation.
The mountains could be beautiful and alive with the sound of animals and insects but they are not. Instead, logging can be heard in the distance. This is a destructive monoculture that benefits nobody in the long term.
The older generation remembers how it used to be but they are dying out. I see the sad look in their eyes when they talk about the wildlife that used to thrive here.
To top it all off, the Camino San Tiago passes through the plantation. These pilgrims like to pile stones on top of one another and take selfies. This is Portugal in 2025!
I invoke Dub Logos on this land between Viana do Castelo and Caminha. This land is for the animals and the oak trees. This is a land of ancient burial grounds, dolmens, waterfalls, and clean fresh water. It is not for housing developments, lithium mines, or plantations of Eucalyptus trees.
This land is for God.
