Lake Engelermeer s-Hertogenbosch Netherlands 1056 AM 250226_1041
City park morning in February. Birds in grove of shrubs and trees on the water edge of a small lake Engelermeer near ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands.

Now that there is another beautiful day with not too much wind, I went to and tucked away spot by wet water. You can smell a mixture of fresh water, rotting leaves and reeds here. A kind of forest air hangs here.
Can you hear it? The #0:01 European Treecreeper with its loud high-pitched squeak in your left ear. I saw him constantly scurrying about the branches and tree trunk, looking for insects. A restless little bird when you see him. He seems nervous, but is not.
After a minute and a half comes the #1:33 Eurasian Wren. That's another one of those little friendly busybodies. The #1:42 Carrion Crow calls several times and then flies off again. The #2:45 Great Tit is like a fast old bicycle pump. That's another one of those little birds. The #3:15 Great Spotted Woodpecker is hammering his way to love. I hope a female hears him, but then again, chances are she's around here. The #4:35 Great Crested Grebe also already has spring in its head. He, too, is making himself heard. Now the #4:54 Common Coot is a little closer again. You can hear him.
It's quite a cacophony of sounds on this beautiful day in February.
Beavers have also been occurring in this area for some time. The picture shows the gnawed-off tree stump sticking out of the ground to the left of the microphone. It's just unfortunate that people let their dogs run loose in this area. The beavers are very afraid of dogs.
Close by are only some local polder roads. Behind me is the village of Engelen. Straight ahead is the Haverleij, modern flats in fake castles. You have a view of the River Meuse there. I don't.
On the left about 2 km away is the city of 's-Hertogenbosch with the A2 motorway, but you don't hear much of that.
