So beguines lived there. It was populated by unmarried women who led a religious life without monastic vows. The square had its own church (St. Nicholas Church), cemetery and priests. The beguines earned their living by weaving and teaching. The last beguine died in 1675, after which the court ceased to exist. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the square was arranged 1749 as a military parade and drill ground. The name “Parade” refers to this function. In 1934, the stables were demolished and replaced by a theater of society Casino. From the 1960s, the square was converted into a parking lot, with linden trees being replaced by chestnut trees due to aphid problems. In 2007, it became an event venue. In 2020-2021, the chestnut trees were uprooted due to disease; benches were made from the wood and returned to the square. Archaeological research uncovered remains of the beguinage, including wall remains, entrances and tombstones. The Parade is next to St. John's Cathedral and is currently used for cafes and culture.
