Sand wasp
Sand wasp on sand drifts of the Loonse and Drunense Dunes.
There are several birds, but the Sand Wasp in particular stand out. They are hunting for insects, shooting from left to right just over the ground. In the distance, children about 7 years old are exploring nature like young nature rangers. Of course, they are also having fun. The European field cricket sometimes.
The Sand Wasp has remarkably large green eyes. The Sand Wasp lives in colonies but they each have their own nest in the ground. They lay one egg on a captured insect, When the egg hatches, the animal immediately starts devouring the insect. The mother keeps feeding new and larger insects. After seven days, it is fully grown and spins a cocoon only to hatch the next year.
