description Description

Carillon playing: volkslied (Marialied) o.l. vrouw van Den Bosch from Toon van Balkom, played by carillonneur Joost van Balkom. Toon van Balkom as the grandfather from Joost (1915-1954). This is Toon’s fantasy on the original song; <a href="https://freesound.org/people/klankbeeld/sounds/554353/" rel="nofollow">Marialied</a>; Lied van de Zoete Lieve Vrouw van Den Bosch. The Gentle (in dutch i.e. “Zoete” = Sweet) Mother or Gentle Lady of the city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch/Den Bosch is one of the mercy statues of Mary in The Netherlands. It is a main center point of a pilgrimage. Since 1380, Mary of ‘s-Hertogenbosch/Den Bosch is being honored in St. John’s Cathedral of the town. The Holy Mother statue worship is unique because her lack of appeal is the reason for her worship. About the recording: Close (10 meters) recording of the carillon of the st Jan Cathedral in 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. <a href="https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Carillon_st_Jan_%27s-Hertogenbosch_04.jpg" rel="nofollow"><img alt="Carillon st Jan &#039;s-Hertogenbosch 04" src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/2f/Carillon_st_Jan_%27s-Hertogenbosch_04.jpg/512px-Carillon_st_Jan_%27s-Hertogenbosch_04.jpg"></a> The microphones are on the roof of the cathedral. The big, heavier and louder bells hang about 7 meters from the microphone and small bells about 13 meters. For that reason the balance in the sound recording not very well tuned. Thanks to Joost van Balkom, the carillonneur, for the hospitality in receiving me for this recording. <a href="https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Carillon_st_Jan_%27s-Hertogenbosch_02.jpg" rel="nofollow"><img alt="Carillon st Jan &#039;s-Hertogenbosch 02" src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/cf/Carillon_st_Jan_%27s-Hertogenbosch_02.jpg/256px-Carillon_st_Jan_%27s-Hertogenbosch_02.jpg"></a> <a href="https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Carillon_st_Jan_%27s-Hertogenbosch_05.jpg" rel="nofollow"><img alt="Carillon st Jan &#039;s-Hertogenbosch 05" src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/72/Carillon_st_Jan_%27s-Hertogenbosch_05.jpg/256px-Carillon_st_Jan_%27s-Hertogenbosch_05.jpg"></a> <a href="https://freesound.org/search/?q=joost+cathedral+klankbeeld&amp;f=duration%3A%5B0+TO+*%5D&amp;w=&amp;s=Automatic+by+relevance&amp;advanced=1&amp;g=" rel="nofollow">More carillon from this cathedral</a> Date/time: May 27th 2020, between 11.30 – 12.15 Weather: 12c, sunny, wind N 2bft with gusts to 8 km/h, 1033 hPa, humidity 55%.
