Chinese new year parade in Paris, France. I made this recording from the side of the street during the Chinese new year parade, usually held by the Asian community and associations every year in the ‘’China Town’’ of Paris (France). During this 1 hour parade, one can hear drummers playing traditional drums and gongs while dragons and tigers are dancing and jumping. Also, men, women and children from various martial arts academies, traditional arts schools and various associations are marching, all of them wearing traditional attires and clothes from their provinces and countries. From time to time, people shout ‘’Bonne année !”” (Happy new year !) in French or in their native language. At the end of the recording, some divinities bless the crowd while many firecrackers explode. In the background, walla from the people watching, and applause from time to time. Recorded in January 2023 with an Olympus LS-P4 and a Rode Stereo videomic X (SVMX). Fade in/out applied in Audacity. (Please note that the dynamic range of this file is quite wide, so you’ll probably have to compress the audio if you’d like to use it in your project.)
